The Zabiki says on its label that it measures 25 feet or 7.5 meters. Last is a petty thing, but I guess I'm picky. The other tape has an arched bottom, and only touches the surface at two points. The fifth thing I like is the Zabiki's flat bottom which makes it sits stably. Photos three and four show that the Zabiki is svelte. Photos one and two show how much bigger and nicer the Zabiki numbers are. The third thing I like is the size of the lettering on the tape. Again, the first two photos illustrate the placement and method of engagement very well. On the Zabiki the button, or slider, falls in a more natural place for my thumb to engage it. You can see these two approaches in the first two photos (the pictures with the tape extended). On the Zabiki, I simply slide the switch back up to unlock. Since it is broken, I don't remember how it unlocked. In the previous tape measure, the button was on top and had to be depressed to lock the tape. It slides down, which is a style of locking that I have found reliable in my 50 years of using tape measures. There are several specific things I like about the Zabiki measure.įirst and most important is the locking mechanism. By contrast, for my previous tape measure, the top *four* levels together didn't even add up to 95%! If the first two categories total anywhere near 90%, that is outstanding. That is an unprecedented number, and I almost never see this in a product. Speaking of ecstatic, consider the numbers: 95% of the Zabiki's customers fall into the top two voting levels - 5-star and 4-star. It is pretty clear to me why everyone is so ecstatic about it. This time I went with the Amazon's Choice tape measure, the Zabiki.
I used it as much in four years as a carpenter would use it in two days. I like it that is, until the locking mechanism failed after perhaps 20 or 30 uses, though they were spread over four years. I also liked my previous tape measure, which was a different brand. My Zabiki 25 ft/7.5 m Measuring Tape is a delight.
